Audrey's memory association

Mr Neil asked us to write a personal recount/memory association on either the words, tree/pet/water. I chose tree.
Well. It goes like this… Once, going for some camp in primary school, I was placed in group 3. So, part of our first assignment was to create a group cheer. After thinking for a very long while, one of my friends, Celeste, came up with this idea, and the cheer goes like this:
Three, three, three, three (x3)
TREE!
We were supposed to squat down and slowly get up and then when we say “tree”, and finally, raise up our hands to look like a tree. However, we heard it a little wrongly and it became like this:
Shee, shee, shee, shee (x3)
SHEE!
Which sounded like someone peeing, it was really embarrassing as we had to do it on stage. But well, we had a good laugh afterwards

Xue Ling's memory association...

We were told to choose one of the three words, tree, water and pet. I chose pet because whenever I see the word pet, it would always remind me of my pet fishes. Sadly, my pet fishes died and that was really disappointing as the fishes have accompanied me for quite some time and there was feeling between me and the fishes. The fishes were birthday presents from my grandparents. Though these things happened long ago when I was young, the memory was quite vivid and everything seem as though they had just happened yesterday. When I was given the fishes, I was extremely elated just like how a normal child would respond and the fishes were really cute I enjoy feeding them and looking at how they swim gracefully in their tank. Oh! How I miss the time with my pet fishes. Although they are not like any other pets, you can’t see their joy or sorrow, but I believe all living g organisms have got feelings, they also know what fear is and they have feelings like us. Having a pet is such a wonderful thing!

Choongying' s memory association.

Mr neil asked us to write a personal recount, memory association on either the words, tree/pet/water. I chose pet.
When I see the word pet and Mr Neil said about an example on hermit crab, i thought of the time , when I was in a shopping centre and i saw a shop selling hermit crabs. The shells were coloured nicely and beautifully with different various pictures. There were alot of coloured hermit crabs in the tank and it crawled around the coconut shells playing with the sand. They looked so cute ! What;s more is that if you buy them, the tank you get will also have a few decorations of coconut shells ! However, it was very expensive. One hermit crab is about sixty-eight dollars . Wow !Nevertheless, I wanted to try my luck so I begged my mother for it. However, to my dismay, she rejected it. I was so sad !

Joyce's speed writing (most scariest moment)

When I was still learning to walk at the age of one ,as I was not steady , I used to cruise around the house by holding on to furnitures like cupboards , chairs and so on.I remember one specific incident quite vividly where I was walking towards my play room ,I held on to the door frame when suddenly, a strong gust of wind slammed the door shut. One of my fingernails actually came out! It flew out when the door slammed shut. As I was still very small at that time, I started crying and tears flowed continuously down my cheeks. My finger was bleeding profusely. My mum quickly rushed me to the hospital where the doctor told my mum that my fingernail would grow back soon and told her not to worry. What a scary moment it was for me!

Joyce's Found Blog

I thought this blog http://www.slamminkindalove.blogspot.com/, was great because it was very clear and easy to understand. Although the colors are not attractive but it is plain, neat and simple so I would give it a 3 for presentation and layout. I would give the theme a 2 because not all the graphics are related to the topic. It varies differently for different posts, not all of them discussed about love-which is the main topic. I feel that the blogger should add more graphics to enhance and capture the readers' attention. For design and graphics, I would also give it a 2 because the graphics can be more entertaining to increase the number of viewers on this blog. I would grade interest as 4 as the content is really meant for viewers whom the blogger knows as well as people of the blogger's age group. Although it was not grammatically correct all the time but there were absolutely no spelling or punctuation errors. Character and place names that the author invented were spelled consistently throughout. Therefore, I would give it a 3. However, there wasn't much of a focus on the whole topic love. The blogger merely used the graphic as a wallpaper and no elaboration or efforts were made to discuss it further. Instead, the whole blog was mostly on the entire blogger's daily life. Thus I would allocate 2 for focus. Sentence and paragraphs in the posts were not consistent, sometimes the words were very saturated, making the post appear to be 'indigestible' for the reader. A 3 would be suitable for this section. The language and vocabulary used was definitely appropriate for this informal setting and gives readers a clear view and full picture of the entire situation so I would give language a 4. All in all, it was a well-written blog with interesting facts, fluent English as well as minimal spelling and grammar errors.

Xue Ling's found blog... :)

I thought this blog: sandnesshongkong.blogspot.com was great because it is quite attractive and the blog’s theme is very catchy. For this blog that I’ve found, I rate it 4 for the presentation and layout as the blog has an exceptionally attractive and usable layout and the important elements are very easy to locate as everything is neatly organised. As for the themes, I rate it a 3 because the author has uploaded some photos to make it more appealing but they were not of a high quality as they seem quite blur but the graphics definitely enhance my interest and understanding of the theme to the blog. As for the design and graphics, I rate it a 3 too because the photos uploaded are related to the theme and they are of good quality. More importantly, the graphics are thoughtfully cropped and they enhance the interest and understanding of the reader. The photos were taken from a good angle. For the interest, I rate it 4 because the author has made an exceptional attempt to make the content of the web site interesting by uploading photos, adding information of the photos and also inserting detailed information to the theme. Lastly, I rate 4 for the teamwork because there was no punctuation or spelling errors, the character and place names were also spelled consistently throughout. The vocabulary that the author used has also given me a clearer understanding to the author’s recount. Overall, i rate this blog as 18/20 and i think you may consider visiting it . :)

Choong Ying's speed writing (most scariest moment)

There was this one time, when I was still a primary 1, I was very timid and very afraid of everything around me. I was told to buy food from a stall for recess. It was my first time carrying a bowl without anyone to watch where i was going and the bowl was full of hot soup. I did not think of anything when i was buying my hot bowl of noodle soup at first. But the moment I took the bowl, my hands started to tremble and images such as toppling over the soup came to my mind. I tried not to think of it as I walked back to my seat. I walked as carefully as I could. Suddenly out of nowhere, two boys were running and they bumped into me and my hot bowl of soup went flying into the air. 'Splat', all the water dripped to the ground and some of the soup scalded one of the boy. I was horrified and scared out of my wits. Luckily, there was an adult nearby and she helped me to wash up and she scolded the boy and me for not holding the soup carefuly ans sent us to a techer. I was so scared at that point of time that i actually felt like crying. After this incident, I finally know the importance of being independant and why 'no running in the canteen' rule was implemented.

Audrey's happiest moment

My happiest moment. If you asked me this question, I would not say it is an easy question. A person’s life had ups and downs. But what I am going to share are really memories I would treasure forever. I used to be very shy, quiet and always looking at the negative side of things, resulting in the fact that I did not have many friends which I could not confide my secrets and problems with them. However, after attending church camp, things changed. The camp was great not because of the many fun games; not because we get to sleep on mattresses at night, but to me, I finally felt that I was loved, I finally found friends who could understand me and most importantly, I found myself through my catechism classmates, facilitators and camp-in-charge. It may have been only a two day-one night thing, but the impact that left on me will be here, forever. The two days, were just great, sharing made me understand myself better, and sessions allowed me to know more about my religion and the activities and games really bonded me with my catechism class. Now, whenever I face problems, troubles or whatever obstacles that comes my way, I know that my friends, facilitators and my God will be here for me. To me, this is really a happy moment in my life.

Xue Ling's happiest moment...

Hey! Talking about my happiest moment, i would say that it is the moment when the PSLE results was released. It is actually quite surprising for me to get 250+ because i found the papers quite hard and i couldn't finish some of the questions. I thought that i'm going to get very low marks and i was feeling very nervous, as though there were butterflies in my stomach. After the top tens were announced, the principal gave a short speech and after that he started to show a slide where the names of the pupils who scored 250+ are listed. I was feeling quite fed up when he started reading out the names... All of a sudden, in my mist of thinking , my friends around me turned to me , shook my hands and congratulated me. I felt lost and didn't know how to react. "Hey, Xue Ling! Look , your name is on the screen !"shouted one of my friends. At that moment, i couldn't believe what i've just heard... It doesn't sound real to me. But after confirming it myself , i was overjoyed. The marks i scored were beyond my expectations! My hardwork has paid off and the kind of feeling is really great and more importantly, i know i did not let my parents down. They have relly helped me a lot in my preparations for the exams. That was my happiest moment. :)

Audrey's Found Blog

I thought this blog http://frozenenglish.blogspot.com was great overall. Its layout may be a little on the boring side, but all important points are easy to find, hence, the blog looks very neat and tidy, making the blog look very ‘whole’. The graphics used are related to each topic and the theme, which are recounts of the blogger’s experiences. The graphics he/she used are of a good quality and it enhances the reader’s interest and it helps the reader to have a greater insight of his/her post. The way the blogger phrases his/her words shows that he/she had put in a brilliant effort to make the post more interesting. Also there are very little spelling and grammatical mistakes. Overall, I would say that it is a very organised blog. Perhaps changing the blogskin would make the blog even more appealing.
